Creditserve is honoured to be celebrating a monumental milestone - we’re 30! You know how everyone says that your 30s are the best years of your life? Well, we couldn’t agree more, although we also know for a fact that we still have so much more to achieve!
Our dedicated team has been the beacon that has shone brightly throughout this journey, and it is with immense pride and gratitude that we get to celebrate this achievement. Since Creditserve’s founding in Hertford in 1995, we have always strived to deliver top-tier credit management support, aiming to empower businesses all across England.
But, it would be a disservice to you, our clients, not to highlight how valued you are. We could not have embarked on this journey without you. This, along with the dedication of our incredible team, has enabled us to build fortified partnerships along the way.
So, thank you for being an integral part of our Creditserve story!
Founders flashback
Okay, so let’s go back to where it all began. It’s 1995, and not only has the iconic Windows ‘95 been launched, but so has the vision of our two founding directors! Laura Ferrie and Chris York brought their vision to life and have since both overseen the incredible evolution of the company, consistently pushing for excellence!
Then vs. now: A Snapshot of Transformation
So, what’s changed exactly? As you will know, 30 years brings with it a lot of change, so let’s take a trip down memory lane, reliving just how much Creditserve has evolved.
Then (‘95):
- Office setup: Initially 3 people in the office, went up to 15 people at one time or other.
- Branding: Check out the evolution of our logo below
- Team Size: up to 15
- Credit checks: We had longer turnaround times because our reports were largely paper-based. Remember fax machines?
- Debt recovery: It was only the beginning for these services, and manual processes were our way of life.
- AML checks: AML wasn’t even a search requirement at this time.
Now (‘25)
- Office setup: We have 5 full time employees, with a back up of our 4 pawed furry friend Murph

- Team size: 6
- Credit checks: We now have instant online access to detailed credit reports available in the blink of an eye.
- AML & debt recovery: Our AML checks and debt recovery solutions are now digital, instantaneous, and more accurate than ever.
Meet the team behind Creditserve
Yes, we have technology to thank for bringing us to where we are today (no one misses copious amounts of boxes filled with paper documents!), but while technology has transformed how we work, at the heart of Creditserve remains our incredible team, who have been a constant throughout!
Here's a look at some of the core members who make it all happen today:
- Chris York: As a founding director, Chris continues to provide invaluable strategic leadership, guiding Creditserve with his extensive industry knowledge.
- Laura Ferrie: Also a founding director, Laura remains deeply involved in the day-to-day operations, ensuring our clients receive the best possible service.
- Martin: Our resident technical guru, Martin, ensures our online platforms run seamlessly, constantly innovating to improve your experience.
- Holly: Holly is often your first point of contact, providing friendly and efficient support, always ready to help with any query.
- Arianne: Arianne is instrumental in managing our diverse client relationships, ensuring that every business feels supported and valued.

It is without a doubt the support from our clients that has enabled us to go on this 30-year adventure. We’ve been fortunate enough to watch numerous businesses grow and thrive, and we’re honoured to have been able to play a role in that by providing trustworthy credit management tools.
We’ve been able to streamline our processes by offering advanced AML checks and online reports, giving businesses detailed financial insights and safeguarding them from major financial risks.
But as we’ve embraced digital advancements, we’ve also managed to hold on firmly to our human touch that defines the essence of Creditserve. There’s no better recipe for success, if you ask us! This has enabled us to provide personalised and tailored support to our clients.

As we celebrate our past, we're equally excited about the future. We’ll never lose sight of why we founded Creditserve 30 years ago in the first place, and will remain forward-facing and ready to embrace our future.

30 years ... A word from our founders!
What did we start with? A plan, wanting to take charge of our own future. Fear, lots of fear and knowing that a lot of hard work lay ahead.
We were fortunate in that our area of expertise and knowledge allowed us to know how to set up a company. Backgrounds in debt collection and credit reporting gave us the knowledge we needed to hopefully avoid the pitfalls and build a stable business.
In the beginning, the main driver when running your own small business, and most businesses are small to begin with, is the fact that when you go to work on the first of the month, there is no magic salary pot at the end of it! What you do during that month affects whether you get paid at the end of the month. The reality is as harsh and stark as that to begin with; it's not a career path for everyone.
So you must have a lot of faith and trust in yourself in the early days. You need to back yourself and at times, you will need patience, to know your worth and, at times, hold your nerve. Luck will also play a part, right place at the right time and all that.
We wanted to create a company with a great product that we could pair with a very personal service, a client-centred service. All our team members are approachable and friendly, and happy to share their knowledge with our clients. We have had to change and evolve, constantly looking to introduce new and improved products and services that our clients will need and want.
In 30 years, we have had 4 addresses, we think about 50 staff, three dogs, (this list is in a vague chronological order and not importance!). We have survived some partings of the ways, Covid and grandchildren. We saved the best until last!
We are proud to say that some of our current clients started out with us 30 years ago, so hopefully we are doing something right. We want to thank all our clients, old and new, for their continued support. Thanks to our suppliers and stakeholders for supporting us throughout those 30 years.
A huge thank you to our staff, all of them, but especially to Martin Brown, who has been with us since almost the beginning.
